Great coffee starts with great beans — but the brew method is where the magic happens. Whether you’re a pour over purist or a French press devotee, this guide will help you get the most out of every bag of Infusion Coffee Co.
The Golden Ratio
Regardless of method, start with the right coffee-to-water ratio. We recommend 1:15 (coffee to water by weight) as a baseline — adjust to taste from there. A kitchen scale makes all the difference.
Pour Over (V60 / Chemex)
Pour over is the gold standard for showcasing a coffee’s nuance and clarity.
- Ratio: 1:15
- Water temp: 93°C (200°F)
- Grind: Medium-fine
- Brew time: 3–4 minutes
Tip: Bloom your grounds with twice the weight of water for 30 seconds before continuing the pour. This releases CO₂ and improves extraction.
French Press
French press delivers a full-bodied, rich cup with natural oils intact.
- Ratio: 1:12
- Water temp: 93°C (200°F)
- Grind: Coarse
- Steep time: 4 minutes
Tip: After pressing, pour immediately to prevent over-extraction.
Espresso
Espresso is the foundation of lattes, cappuccinos, and so much more.
- Ratio: 1:2 (in:out)
- Water temp: 93°C (200°F)
- Grind: Fine
- Extraction time: 25–30 seconds
Tip: Dial in your grind first — if it’s too fast, go finer; too slow, go coarser.
Cold Brew
Cold brew is smooth, low-acid, and incredibly refreshing.
- Ratio: 1:8
- Water temp: Cold or room temperature
- Grind: Extra coarse
- Steep time: 12–18 hours in the fridge
Tip: Strain through a fine mesh or paper filter for a cleaner cup.
Storage Tips
To keep your Infusion coffee at peak freshness: store in an airtight container, away from light, heat, and moisture. Avoid the freezer for beans you’re using daily. Use within 2–4 weeks of the roast date for best results.
